Seniors Programs at the Kent Street Activity Centre

The Kent Street Activity Centre is a multi-use centre home to the Kent Street Coffee Shop, a meeting room, snooker room, and a large auditorium. Seniors can become members at the Kent Street Activity Centre for only $40 a year. Membership includes access to a ton of Activity Groups that are great places to socialize, meet people with similar hobbies, and learn a new skill. Try woodcarving, Cribbage, Yoga for Seniors, Carpet Bowling, or join their Walk and Talk 55+ group. If there’s something specific you’d like to learn in a group – seniors can even start their own activity club right here in White Rock!

White Rock’s Source Community Resource Centre

Sources in White Rock has a number of resources available to seniors that provide them with help and, perhaps more importantly, hope. One such resource is Shop by Phone. Give your grocery order to a volunteer on Monday, and receive your groceries on Tuesday morning. Sources also offers the Community Seniors Hub, which helps connect seniors with the many programs and services available to them in the White Rock area.

Seniors Centre without Walls in White Rock

If you or a loved one are looking for ways to socialize safely from the comfort of their own home, the Seniors Centre without Walls is a great solution! Seniors Centre without Walls offer thirty minute interactive telephone conferences. Seniors can sign up for programs that interest them, such as book clubs, poetry, movies, or gardening. Guest speakers are regularly invited to share on specialized topics. Best of all, it’s completely over the telephone! Learn and socialize in the safety of your home. Group Trips and Drop-in knitting at the Alex House

The Alex House is a multi-service organization that works with the White Rock community by providing White Rock residents with programs and resources that meet their emergent and diverse needs. Alex House has a number of programs that are specific to seniors, but also multi-generational programs that can connect seniors with community members of different ages. Join the Alex house knitting circle and make something new! Or take part in one of the Alex House’s monthly out-trips for seniors and join others as you explore some of the cool places in White Rock and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Minds in Motion

Mind in Motion is an excellent resource for seniors living with any form of early-stage dementia. Through gentle exercise and social activities, seniors and their loved ones can learn tools and resources as to help with with their dementia. Minds in Motion is offered in communities across BC, including White Rock.
